The event, organised by the Wintringham Residents Association (WRA) with the support of master developer Urban&Civic, saw the community congregate at the plaza, school hall and surrounding green space to enjoy bouncy castles and an inflatable obstacle course, fairground games including hoopla, a coconut shy and hook a duck, giant Jenga, archery and craft stations.

Refreshments from food trucks, along with drinks, ice cream and candy floss were also available, and a DJ played summer hits as residents relaxed in the sunshine on picnic rugs and in deck chairs. Dr Bike was also there, servicing bikes to make sure families were safe to cycle round the development and further afield.

Christine Littlewood, Community Development for Wintringham, said: “Residents held a ‘meet your neighbour’ event on the pocket park last year and this year’s event has grown exponentially and far exceeded expectations! With more residents moving in and the community flourishing, it was fantastic to see neighbours catching up and new friendships being forged.

“Wintringham Residents Association is going from strength to strength and the event wouldn’t have been possible without all the amazing volunteers. They did a fantastic job organising a fun-packed event for the whole family to enjoy, and it was great working with them to help bring their vision to life.”

Scott Jenner, chairman of WRA, said: “Wintringham Community Day is designed for neighbours to meet and build connections, and it was fantastic to see so many people turn up and have such a great time. I’d like to thank everyone who helped put on the event as well as everyone who came along and made the day so special!”
