Cycle-themed fun day returns to Wintringham

Each year, Wintringham hosts a family-friendly event with fun and interactive ways to experience the joys of cycling. As well as an opportunity to try out a wide variety of bicycles, visitors can get their own bikes safety checked and use pedal power to create bubbles and smoothies.

This year’s Wintringham on Wheels is taking place from 11am to 3pm on Sunday, 14 July at the school plaza. The event is organised in collaboration with Go Travel, Wintringham’s active travel partner, to encourage residents to make sustainable travel choices and leave the car at home.

Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or a beginner, this is a great way to try out a range of bikes. Take the bike of your choice for a 30-minute trial to see whether it suits your needs. The leisure trail around the perimeter of the first phase of Wintringham provides a loop of around 3.5km, which is a great way to put your bike through its paces.

Dr Bike sessions will also be taking place, with free bike checks carried out by a trained mechanic. This will include tyres, brakes and lights, so you are ready for summer cycle rides.

Visitors will also be able to put their pedal power to the test by creating their own delicious smoothies or making bubbles for the younger children to enjoy.

Christine Littlewood, Communities Lead for Wintringham, said: “Our cycling event aims to inspire residents and visitors to explore the area in a more sustainable and eco-friendly way.
Cycling is not only a great way to reduce your carbon footprint, but it also offers numerous health benefits and is a wonderful way to connect with nature and the community.
