Morris Homes has joined the roster of housebuilders planning to bring forward new homes at Wintringham as part of the eastern expansion of St Neots.
A planning application has been submitted by Morris Homes for 234 new homes, including, 2, 3, and 4 bedroom homes and 1 and 2 bed apartments. 70 of the homes will be available for shared ownership and Affordable Housing options. The application also includes open space and landscaping which has been designed to connect with the wider Wintringham plans, using materials and approaches set out in the site-wide Design Code.
The new homes will be located at the eastern end of the Wintringham development, and have been designed with landscaping and building designs to form an attractive Eastern Gateway to Cambridge Road and entry to both Wintringham and St Neots. This includes a terrace of townhouses, sitting back behind landscape which forms part of a new green corridor running along the front of Cambridge Road.
David Hesson, Group Managing Director of Morris Homes, said: “We have worked with Urban&Civic on a number of prestigious developments at Alconbury Weald and Houlton, near Rugby, and recognise the importance of quality of place, alongside well designed and well built homes. We believe these proposals will provide attractive homes for people to set down roots in what is going to be a great place to live.”
Tim Leathes, Development Director for Urban&Civic, master developers of the Wintringham development added: “This application covers a really important part of the future development, in forming part of the Eastern Gateway to Wintringham and St Neots, alongside the landscaping work and tree planting which is already underway. We look forward to continued work with Morris and CALA to bring forward the first homes, along with Cambridgeshire County Council on the delivery of the Primary School, to start to create the new community of Wintringham.”
Huntingdon District Council is consulting on Morris Homes’ planning application until 10 April 2019. For further information, view application ref: 18/02708/REM on the Council’s website: www.huntingdonshire.gov.uk
