Urban&Civic championed open-air theatre company Shakespeare at the Towers again this year, with its Wintringham development sponsoring the summer production of The Comedy of Errors.

With performances from 23 June – 4 July 2026, the Shakespeare troupe delighted audiences with a fast-paced farce set in Ephesus, Ancient Greece. With two sets of identical twins, there was double the hilarity, double the silliness and double the wholesomeness when everyone was reunited at the end.
The audience experienced a relaxed, family-friendly evening in the grounds of Buckden Towers, enjoying food and drinks before settling into seats in the purpose-built tiered stand.

Despite the hot weather, the actors donned their costumes and performed brilliantly, and audience interaction added an extra dimension, making it a fun evening out for the whole family.”
Award-winning theatre company, Shakespeare at the Towers, performed at The George Hotel in Huntingdon from 1959 and moved to the captivating backdrop of Buckden Towers last year. It will be back again next year performing Titus Andronicus, marking a dramatic shift from light comedy to Shakespeare’s darkest and most violent revenge tragedy, set against the backdrop of the declining Roman Empire.
