‘This Is Our Town Too’: Graffiti project gives young people a creative voice

Following the success of last summer’s popular graffiti project in Duck Lane, young people from all corners of St Neots are being invited to join graffiti artist Kilo from Splash & Dash Creations to create collective artworks and individual canvases exploring what their town means to them.

This project encourages young people to express their identities, share what St Neots means to them, and celebrate the places, people and experiences that make the town special. Through bold artwork, they will be able to let their voices shine and show the important role young people play in creating a vibrant community.

Four free drop-in sessions are taking place:

  • 2 pm-6 pm on Tuesday, 4 August in Kings Road Park, Eaton Socon
  • 2 pm-6 pm on Thursday, 6 August at Duck Lane MUGA, Eynesbury
  • 2 pm-6 pm on Friday, 7 August on Wintringham School Plaza
  • 10 am-2 pm on Saturday, 8 August in St Neots Market Square

The artwork created during these sessions will culminate in installations of collective pieces in local neighbourhoods, alongside a mosaic-style display of individual works at St Neots Museum from 11 August to 5 September 2026.

Organised by St Neots Town Council’s Youth Engagement team in partnership with St Neots Museum, Places for People and Wintringham, the project gives young people a creative way to express themselves.

Hannah Bell, Lead Engagement & Participation Youth Worker at St Neots Town Council, said:
Last year’s graffiti project at Duck Lane showed just how much young people value having a space to be creative and express themselves. This year, we’re bringing the project to more locations so even more young people can get involved.

Many young people tell us they often feel overlooked, so it’s important that they have opportunities to show that they are a valued part of our community. This is their town too, and through this project they can share what St Neots means to them in their own way.

This project complements recent community engagement activities, including Big Listen in St Neots and Wintringham’s Quality of Life Survey, by giving young people a more creative way to share their views and help shape the future of St Neots.

Christine Littlewood, Community Development Lead for Wintringham master developer Urban&Civic, said: “Creating communities where people want to live is really important and we are constantly listening and evolving our plans to reflect feedback from our residents. There have been lots of opportunities for people to share their thoughts and ideas for the future of St Neots recently, and it’s great to give young people a creative way to get involved.”

The St Neots Youth Council Graffiti Project is open to young people aged 8 and over. Children under 11 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The sessions are free to attend and there is no need to book – simply drop in and get creative.
