Urban&Civic has championed the award-winning local theatre company for many years and, with its move to Buckden Towers, the Wintringham development is delighted to be sponsoring this year’s event.
Shakespeare at the Towers will be performing Twelfth Night, a comedic play centred around mistaken identities and romantic confusion in the fictional land of Illyria. The story revolves around Viola, a woman who disguises herself as a man named Cesario and enters the service of Duke Orsino, who is in love with the wealthy Lady Olivia.
Olivia, in turn, becomes infatuated with Cesario, further complicating the romantic entanglements. The play also features a subplot involving Sir Toby Belch and his friends, who play pranks on Olivia’s steward, Malvolio. The comedy unfolds with much humour and a surprising resolution where the characters’ true identities are revealed.
Outdoor performances are from 7.30pm between 24 June to 5 July (except Sunday 29 June), with a matinee at 2pm on Saturday 28 June. In addition to the captioned performance for the deaf/hearing impaired on Tuesday 1 July, sponsored by The Evelyn Glennie Foundation, a Touch Tour of the set and costumes will be held before the performance on Monday 30 June to make the production more accessible for blind and partially sighted theatre fans.
Discount for Wintringham Residents: If you live at Wintringham you can get £2 off the price of any adult ticket (except for those performances where the tickets are already reduced). Use code U&C25 when booking your tickets at https://satt.org.uk/tickets/
