St Neot’s newest community came together for a festive celebration on Wintringham’s plaza, in front of the development’s school.
The annual Christmas event saw around 200 people brave the wintry chill to gather around the Christmas tree and sing along as St Neots Big Band performed festive classics. The community also enjoyed authentic Italian wood-fired pizzas from local food truck Pizza-my-Heart, indulged in delicious churros with luxurious toppings from Churrisimo and warmed up with mulled wine or hot chocolate from Edmond’s Box bar.
The event was made extra special by the first snow of the season, with children taking the opportunity to throw snowballs and build an igloo as the evening festivities took place.
Whilst Christmas is a joyous time for many it can also bring challenges, especially with the current cost of living crisis, and Wintringham’s fundraising drive is helping support those in need in the local area.
Master developer Urban&Civic joined forces with residents and housebuilders – Durkan, Stonebond, Morris and Barratt & David Wilson Homes – to raise over £2,000 in funds, food and toiletries, which were donated to St Neots foodbank in mid-December, in time for Christmas.
Adrienne Dunn, Project Manager from St Neots foodbank said: “With families under pressure due to increasing prices the foodbank, which is run entirely by volunteers, is experiencing high levels of demand from local people in need. We are hugely grateful for the response we have had from those living and working at Wintringham; this generous provision of food and finance will help support our work feeding those in crisis in our community at one of the most challenging times of the year.”
