St Neots local finds dream family home at Wintringham

Paul Leigh, 46, has been living in St Neots since the age of 11, so when he decided to buy a bigger house with his wife Julie and their three children Darcy, Harrison and Travis, moving to another town was never really an option. “Over time, you get to know a lot of people, plus my parents and brother are here; my wife’s family are here, too. From a lifestyle perspective it’s perfect, with plenty of independent cafes and access to nature, which was another reason why we were determined to find something nearby.”

When the Leigh family saw their future home at Wintringham, an exciting new community in St Neots, they instantly knew it was the one. “We fell in love with the home as soon as we saw it. It’s spacious and there is so much storage space – an absolute must for a big family like ours. Our home also comes with a double garage and a large drive, so we don’t need to worry about parking, which is a great advantage.”

But it wasn’t just the house itself that’s won them over. “Wintringham feels like a real community. There’s plenty of grass; it’s not just lone houses with a path on the doorstep, and you see trees everywhere. We know that many facilities are going to be created in the coming years, which is definitely a plus – we’re planning to stay here for the long-term.”

Once they’ve moved to Wintringham, the Leigh family will still be a stone’s throw from St Neots town centre. “We have so many favourite places in St Neots”, says Paul. “Bohemia Café serves absolutely gorgeous food – always beautifully presented and fresh, worth every penny. Ambiance Café is our go-to spot for a full English breakfast; we also like going to Art & Soul every now and again. St Neots is full of small independent places, and that’s one of the things we love about it.”

Despite working from home, Paul was pleased to learn that his new home is just a short walk from St Neots train station, the A1 and A428. Julie, who works in Eaton Socon, also in St Neots, will enjoy a five-minute drive to work, while Darcy will be able to continue walking to school.

The family are counting down the days until they can move into their new home at Wintringham. “Nothing like that has been built in St Neots before, it’s just so nice and well thought-through. We look forward to getting settled and meeting our new neighbours.”
